Frequently Asked Questions
Our customers often ask different questions about our work.
Here are some of the most commonly raised questions we've had over the years...
What Is Pure Water?
Purified water is free from any impurities. Some of these impurites commonly found in tap water are minerals such as Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium and Phosphorus. These minerals are perfectly safe to drink, however when it comes to window cleaning they are not ideal due to how they dry. When non-purified water dries, the minerals become visible, leaving spot marks on the surface. This obviously doesn’t look good and also means the windows will get dirty again quicker, as impurities such as dust in the air are more likely to cling on to the window. In order to create pure water, we use a special filtration system designed to remove all minerals leaving behind 100% pure water. Once the water has been purified it can be used to clean your windows to achieve a spotless finish.
Can I Have My Windows Cleaned When It's Raining?
The simple answer is Yes! Firstly, the rain itself does not make your windows dirty. However, one reason your windows may appear dirty after rainfall is because the glass was previously unclean and the rain clings to the dirt. However, if the window and frame are both clean, the rain will not cling to the glass. It will simply roll off the window, leaving the glass clean. This is because rain water is much purer than tap water. You may often find that your windows appear dirtier in the hot, dry weather because there is more dust in the air and this will settle everywhere including on your car, and your windows. To summarise its not the rain that makes your windows dirty, its not having them cleaned regularly! Each weather type brings different challenges but as experienced professionals we've learnt how to overcome them. One of the many benefits of using pure water means we can work in almost any weather and still achieve the same great results as on any other day!
How Often Should I Have My Windows Cleaned?
In most cases we recommend every 8 weeks / 2 months. Through years of personal experience, we have found that when the windows are cleaned to a high standard (including the frames and sills), this interval works very well for most of our customers and ensures they are kept well maintained and looking good all year round. However, the exact frequency can depend on a number of factors. For example, if your property is next to a busy road, dirt will build up more quickly. Interestingly, if you choose to have your windows cleaned rarely it can result in a build up of stubborn dirt or even permanent staining which maybe very difficult, if not impossible to remove resulting in higher cleaning costs. To keep your windows maintained and in good condition we recommend having them professionally cleaned on a regular basis.
Are You Fully Insured?
Yes, we are fully insured. in the very unlikely event that we cause damage to your property you'll be covered for the repairs. Over the years we've never needed to use it and hopefully never will!
How Does The Water Fed Pole Method Work?
You may have seen an increasing number of window cleaners using water fed poles for cleaning windows, also known as the reach and wash system. This method uses a pole through which pure water is fed to a brush at the end. The brush is then moved across the window allowing the pure water to absorb impurities and lift the dirt. The window is then rinsed to leave a clean finish. This is very effective for cleaning not only the glass, but the frames/sills too. Because we use pure water the window stays cleaner for longer due to it being specially filtered of any impurities which attract the dirt. In fact, windows cleaned traditionally actually attract the dirt due to the detergent used. Another great feature of water fed poles is the ability to reach awkward windows which would not be possible with traditional methods. Due to the telescopic carbon fibre poles which can reach up to a height of 20 metres, work can be carried out safely at ground level without the need for ladders or scaffolding.
What Other Services Do You Provide?
As well as window cleaning we also offer gutter clearing and conservatory cleaning which includes the roof of the conservatory too. For the gutter clearing we use a high tech vacuum system with modular carbon fibre poles that enables us to access the gutters with no need for ladders or scaffolding. In addition, we are able to provide before and after pictures so you can see the transformation for yourself!
